Following U.S. Senate confirmation, Judge Matthew H. Solomson was appointed by President Trump to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in February 2020.  Judge Solomson has issued notable decisions in areas spanning the court’s jurisdiction, including procurement, patent, tax, Fifth Amendment takings, contract, and military and civilian pay disputes.  Prior to joining the court, Judge Solomson was Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for an $11B business unit of a Fortune 50 company, practiced government contracts law with several Washington, DC, law firms—including Sidley Austin LLP and Arnold & Porter LLP—and was a Trial Attorney in the Commercial Litigation Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice.  He has served as counsel of record in dozens of cases before the National Courts, which include the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  Following graduation from the University of Maryland’s JD/MBA program in 2002 (with honors and Order of the Coif), he served as a law clerk for the Hon. Francis M. Allegra, Judge, U.S. Court of Federal Claims.  Judge Solomson is the primary author and editor of the legal treatise, Court of Federal Claims: Jurisdiction, Practice, and Procedure, first published by Bloomberg BNA in 2016.  Judge Solomson was recently appointed Dean of the prestigious Tikvah Legal Fellowship program.
