Important Changes to This Weekend’s Celebration
Mar 13 - Mar 15
First and foremost, we want to wish you a very happy Purim. We are writing to update you on our plans for this coming weekend.
We were informed by Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau that due to the 14-day quarantine imposed by the Israeli government on travelers entering Israel from all countries, he will, unfortunately, be unable to join us this weekend. Therefore we have decided to cancel the Friday night dinner. Please note that we will be refunding all reservations in the next few days.
We are honored to welcome on Shabbat morning Ambassador Dani Dayan, Consul General of Israel, who will bring a special message from the President of the State of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, and Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, on the occasion of Rabbi Arthur Schneier’s birthday celebration. Services will begin at 8:45am led by Rabbi Arthur Schneier and Chief Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot, with the Choir conducted by Maestro Russell Ger. The services will be followed by a special Kiddush.
With the rapidly developing news related to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in New York, Rabbi Schneier, out of concern for the health of our members and congregation, has asked that the Sunday celebration be postponed to a later date.
The safety and well-being of our community is paramount in all our decisions. We remain committed to ensuring the health of our Park East family, and we are guided by the Talmudic rule that health overrides every other commandment. Above all, we are here to support all of our neighbors and the wider community. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you might have. We will continue to communicate with you about any further changes as the circumstances evolve.
May G-d bring a speedy recovery to all those who are ill, and may Purim bring us a turnaround of joy and redemption.
